We are thrilled to announce that Sinapis has expanded to Uganda! Our four-month Sinapis Academy training program launched in March in Uganda’s capital, Kampala. Twenty-eight eager students make up our first cohort, and the training is occurring in partnership with a local co-working space and incubator called The Square.
Uganda has a growing economy with an increasingly vibrant entrepreneurship ecosystem. In fact, in 2014 the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) ranked Uganda as the most entrepreneurial country in the world. Unfortunately, the country continues to struggle with significant poverty, unemployment and corruption. In addition, GEM also noted that the formal education system has not provided the skills most young entrepreneurs need to identify profitable, growth-oriented products and services.
Sinapis will help Ugandan entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses that provide dignified employment that alleviates poverty. Throughout our training and in ongoing relationships, we will have the privilege of sharing the love of Christ and encouraging business owners to use their companies as a blessing to their communities.
We thank God for this opportunity, as it brings us one step closer to realizing our vision of empowering 10,000 entrepreneurs globally.
