A Journey of Generosity

December 4, 2019

Sinapis is a community where receivers become givers. Every alumni's training is first made possible by generous givers who help sponsor the cost to make elite faith-driven business training available. These entrepreneurs take what they are given and create ripple effects of growth, job creation, and generosity.

Yet they are hungry to do more. They are hungry to give more. In response, Sinapis partnered with Generosity Path in October to begin offering the Journey of Generosity (JOG), an immersive day-long retreat to help people grow in generosity and their ability to hear from God. It's a powerful experience that has already brought together thousands of givers across 50 countries and over 20 languages.

Attendees learn how to:

(1) Excel in the grace of giving.2 Corinthians 8:7 says, “But just as you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us – see that you also excel in this grace of giving.”

(2) Listen and obey the Lord’s prompting. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

(3) Develop a vision for sharing the joy of living generously. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Sinapis staff, trainers and alumni attended this first Journey of Generosity experience. Several shared how they previously thought generosity was something for only the rich or people from other nations. Now they recognize God calls us all into a life of radical open-handedness, regardless of how much or how little we have. And in East Africa, that means they can exercise generosity in a way that transforms culture for Christ. Generosity for Africa by Africa.

The demand for another Journey of Generosity is high, so stay tuned! We're planning a second one soon.
