Nathan is disrupting healthcare in Uganda. His business, Mzima Hx, is driven by a big vision to make medication, lab tests, and health insurance affordable and accessible to the people of Uganda.
After spending a decade in the pharmaceutical industry, Nathan Wajega was frustrated. He was frustrated that people could not afford healthcare. He was frustrated that medical professionals could not afford to take care of their families. Quality medications were too expensive. But Nathan saw an opportunity to change that. By blending his experience running a pharmacy, training new pharmacists, and working on big data analysis for drug trends, Nathan envisioned a database and smartphone app designed to help patients and medical professionals find the right medication at the right price.
The winner of the Business Plan Competition receives a prize of $10,000 USD, which will help Nathan finalize, launch, and market the Mzima Hx prototype. Winning the competition brought him to tears. It is a powerful validation of his idea and his dream. And the prize money represents a valuable acceleration of his mission to make healthcare accessible for all Ugandans.
