We are excited to announce our first partner outside of Kenya! After much prayer and due diligence, Sinapis and Innohub have agreed to join together to launch the Sinapis training program in the Ghanaian capital of Accra in April 2017. Ghana is one of the most entrepreneurial countries in Africa and is a key gateway to the 250 million consumers in West Africa. Despite its potential, there is still significant poverty across the country and double-digit unemployment (approaching 50% among the 16-24 year olds).
For the past year Innohub has operated a business accelerator like our Fast Track Fellows program and an impact investment platform dedicated to serving small and growing businesses (SGBs). They have worked closely with portfolio companies providing growth consulting, training, and capital raising support. Introducing our 4-month training program to their accelerator will increase Innohub's scale dramatically in year 1!
We selected Innohub as our first expansion partner because of their deep love for Christ and strong business and emerging market experience. Innohub’s executives have held previous roles at EY (Ernst and Young), MTN, Youth Bridge Foundation, Vakmet Capital, and Nestle Ghana. The co-founders have also earned advanced degrees from the London School of Economics and Imperial College London. Innohub aims to accelerate at least 100 entrepreneurs through the Sinapis training program in their first year. In preparation for their launch in April, their CEO Nelson Amo is currently visiting our team in Nairobi. We are working closely together to contextualize the curriculum, train their trainers, and implement our monitoring and evaluation tools to ensure high quality outcomes.
As dreams of international expansion become a reality, we are excited to scale and feel peace that the Lord is guiding Sinapis to serve many more kingdom entrepreneurs in the years ahead.
