Sinapis Uganda just graduated 50 entrepreneurs to change the world! But the excitement doesn't end there. On July 27th, just after Sinapis Uganda's 1st Entrepreneur Academy graduation, 7 of those new graduates competed head-to-head in Uganda’s first annual Business Plan Competition. The pitches ranged from healthier cosmetics to healthier pastries, from a fleet of grain distributors to an eco-tourism lodge just outside of Murchison Falls National Park. Donald Maasa is making legal services accessible, while Joan Mugenzi is coaching leaders from NGOs and the banking industry.
Yet the winner of the night was Nathan Wajega. His business, Mzima Hx, is driven by a big vision to make medication, lab tests, and health insurance affordable and accessible to the people of Uganda. As winner, Nathan receives a prize of $10,000 USD which will help him finalize, launch, and market the Mzima Hx prototype. Winning the competition brought him to tears.
It is a powerful validation of his idea and his dream. And the prize money represents a valuable acceleration of his mission to make healthcare accessible for all Ugandans.
